Shirin Neshat: Major survey exhibition opens at Broad Museum in LA; group exhibition at MAXXI, Rome
The largest exhibition to date of Iranian-born, New York-based artist Shirin Neshat opens at The Broad in Los Angeles on 19 October. Titled Shirin Neshat: I Will Greet the Sun Again, the exhibition takes its name from a poem by Forugh Farrokhzad, and offers a rare glimpse into Neshat’s artistic journey. The Broad will present 230 photographs and eight immersive video installation which demonstrate Neshat’s innovative and poetic approach to exploring topics of exile, displacement, and identity. Neshat will also premiere Land of Dreams, a series of photographs and two video works which addresses long standing tensions between the United States and Iran through the experience of an Iranian woman immigrant living in rural America. A new series of photographs by Neshat, entitled Offerings, features on O Della Materia Spirituale Dell’Arte, a group exhibition simultaneously opening in October at Maxxi Museum in Rome. Through the work of 19 artists, the show investigates spirituality through the lens of contemporary art as well as that of Ancient Rome and runs until 8 March 2020.
